2010 Leading Women Dinner
April 16, 2010 - SEIWIP hosted the 2010 Leading Women Dinner at 701 Whaley in Columbia, SC. This event honored groundbreaking South Carolina women, Inez Moore Tenenbaum and Sherry Shealy Martschink and opened doors for more women in politics. The keynote speaker was Arlene Violet, former Sister of Mercy Nun and first female State Attorney General in the US.

Campaign Training in Santee
February 20, 2010 - SEIWIP hosted a one-day training session for women interested in running, or working in a campaign on Saturday, February 20. The event was held in Santee, SC, and Deb Sofield, an executive speech coach and President of the Women's Campaign School at Yale, was the session's trainer.

Through the Looking Glass - Pre-Legislative Reception
January 7, 2010 - Through the Looking Glass - A Pre-Legislative Reception was held in the lobby of the First Citizens Bank. The Institute showed visually how the shortage of women in public office impacts both representation and policy decisions in South Carolina. The reception honored women who currently hold office, greeted those who have committed to running in 2010, and encouraged others to join them.

The Second Annual Shoe Party
SEIWIP held their Second Annual Shoe Party in honor of Kate Webb's Birthday on November 17, 2009! Kate was willing to make a sacrifice this year and instead of gifts, she wanted everyone to bring a gift for at least the cost of their favorite pair of shoes in order to support the Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics. An Art Sale and Silent Auction was also held. Kate's Party was a great success, and we thank everyone who attended!

The Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics and the Center for Women hosted a reception on Friday, November 13, with national fundraising expert Nancy Bocskor, author of Go Fish: How to Catch (and Keep) Contributors. The reception was held at The Art Institute of Charleston.

Fundraising Training School in Charleston
The Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics and the Center for Women, hosted a reception and fundraising training school with national fundraising expert Nancy Bocskor, author of Go Fish: How to Catch (and Keep) Contributors. The training was on Saturday, November 14th, at The Charleston School of Law and the reception was Friday, November 13th at the Art Institute's Atrium.

South Carolina Women: Their Lives and Times, A Symposium
The Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics and the Alliance for Women helped sponsor a symposium hosted at USC about South Carolina Women throughout history. The symposium was on June 4, 2009 and was a great success!

2009 Leading Women Dinner and Reception - May 1, 2009
The 2009 Leading Women reception on Friday, May 1, honored Barbara Nielson, former SC Superintendent of Education and Liz Patterson, former US Congresswoman from the 4th District. Kathy Grob, publisher of Elect Women Magazine, was the keynote speaker.

Art Sale at 2009 Leading Women Dinner
Nine Columbia artists under the name Columbia Artists for Women in Politics will show examples of their work at the 2009 Leading Women reception and dinner being held by the Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics at the Clarion Townhouse Hotel on Friday, May 1st. The work will be on sale at the event and the artists will share the proceeds with the Institute on an equal basis.
