Zeke Stokes
Zeke Stokes is a native South Carolinian and has spent more than a decade working as a political, governmental, and nonprofit consultant at the local, state, and federal levels. A University of South Carolina graduate, he began his career as Director of Communications for the South Carolina Democratic Party. He managed the successful race of Inez Tenenbaum, elected State Superintendent of Education in 1998, her first successful run for statewide office. He was 22 years old at the time.
Since then, Zeke has specialized in management, strategy, communications and fundraising for campaigns at all levels. In 2006, he led Jim Rex to become the only Democrat elected to statewide office in South Carolina. In addition, his work has included serving as a fundraising consultant to former United States Senator John Edwards, helping State Superintendent of Education Jim Rex push landmark school accountability reform through the South Carolina General Assembly, and consulting for the campaign of former Governor Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire who became New Hampshire’s first female U.S. Senator in January. He also remains a consultant to the State Department of Education.
In addition to his political work, Zeke has consulted for Central South Carolina Habitat for Humanity, the South Carolina Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, and the South Carolina Audubon Society.
He lives in Columbia, SC.
